Larcenies continue in Clayton
Another car larceny was reported to Clayton Police Friday. Joel Tew reported two i-Pods were stolen from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked at his Neuse Ridge Drive home. The i-Pods were valued at $800.Clayton Police have investigated more than 24 car larcenies in the past three weeks. Four men have been arrested in connection to the crimes, but more arrests are likely to follow.
Fake checks cashed
Clayton Food Town reported seven bad checks were passed at the East Second Street store Friday, police reported. The checks were valued at $585.
Materials stolen from new home
Building materials, including decorative columns and pickets for a fence, were stolen Sunday from a home under construction in Plantation Pointe subdivision near Clayton, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.Det. Lt. Tommy Beasley said someone stole the items, valued at nearly $1,600, between 6 p.m. Thursday and 8:45 a.m. Friday. The affected home is on Ainsley Court near South Murphy Street, he said.
Thief strikes Clayton-area home
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of more than $5,000 in personal property from a home on Country Trail Drive near Clayton.Among the items taken were a 42-inch television, two gaming systems, video games and $2,800 in cash. Beasley said detectives have a suspect in the case but have not yet made an arrest.
Two charged for disobedience
Two Selma men were arrested Friday for failing to heed a sheriff deputy’s order to leave the scene of a traffic stop, authorities reported.Terry Walker, 22, of 408 Hunting Drive and James Walker, 17, of 802 West Anderson Street, were charged with failure to disperse on command. Det. Lt. Tommy Beasley of the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the pair was at the scene of a traffic stop at the intersection of Saunders and Noble streets when they were asked to leave. He said he did not know if the men were in the stopped car or if they had walked to the scene.James Walker was jailed under a $1,250 bond. Terry Walker, also charged with using profane language on a public road, was jailed under a $2,500 bond.
Smithfield eatery robbed
Staff at Subway at 1245 N. Bright Leaf Blvd. reported a robbery at the restaurant Saturday night, although nothing was reported stolen. According to a Smithfield Police report, a suspect entered the restaurant at 9:54 p.m. wearing gloves and either had a toy gun or implied they had a gun. Smithfield Police are investigating.
Robbery at phone store
Mitchell’s Car Phones Inc. at 210 N. Bright Leaf Blvd. reported to Smithfield Police Sunday that the store was robbed shortly before midnight.Someone used forcible entry to get into the store, and took off with five Sprint cell phones, worth $2,199.95 altogether.
Assault reported at club
Five men, including the club’s owner, were cited for assault inflicting serious injury following an incident at a Mambo Club, a bar at 503 Brogden Rd. about 11 p.m. Sunday.According to an incident report, some of the men involved suffered severe lacerations from a knife. Police seized the knife from club owner Juan Carlos Gutierrez, 42, of 213 Barbour Rd., Smithfield, who was cited at 509 N. Bright Leaf Blvd. Also cited at that address were Francisco Rodriguez Alvarado, 20, and Patricio Rodriguez Alvarado, 25, both of 1411 Rains Crossroad Rd., Princeton and Jorge Alex Gutierrez, 21, of 213 Barbour Rd., Smithfield.Erick Gutierrez Torres, 24, of 517 Crump St., Smithfield, was cited at the police department.
