Woman reports flasher
A Smithfield woman told police Thursday that someone exposed themselves to her at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Estela N. Zapata, 36, of 131 Henley Place, said the incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday. Smithfield police are investigating.
Store reports receiving fake money
Clayton police reported that Handy Mart on N.C. 42 received a counterfeit $100 bill Wednesday.
Car window broken
A Raleigh man said a window on his car was broken while the vehicle was parked on U.S. 70 West in Clayton Wednesday, police reported.
Yet another car broken into
A Clayton man's car was broken into Thursday morning, Clayton police reported. The Brandon Drive resident told police that CDs and an iPod were taken from his vehicle while it was parked at his home.Police have arrested four men in connection to a rash of larcenies from cars over the past two weeks.
Man arrested for counterfeit drugs
Clayton police have arrested a local man for drugs, including counterfeit cocaine.Martin Tocarise Stewart, 21, of 100 Hereerd Dr., was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver, possession of a counterfeit controlled substance, driving without an operator’s license and insurance and possession of marijuana. He was placed under $18,000 bond.Tocarise had 6.6 grams of counterfeit cocaine and 0.7 grams of marijuana, according to a police report.
Selma woman arrested for drugs
A Selma woman was arrested Thursday on drug charges.Brenda Faye Frazier, 37, of 612 W. Railroad St. was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver drugs, two counts of selling cocaine and two counts of conspiring to sell or deliver drugs.Frazier was jailed under a $50,00 bond, according to a report from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Man accused of crimes across region
Smithfield police on Thursday arrested a local man wanted on a variety of charges across the region.Police arrested David James Schiffer, 37, of 132 Cambridge Place about 10 p.m. on a warrant for obtaining property by false pretenses. The warrant was taken out April 1 by Clayton police, according to police reports. On that charge, Schiffer was placed under a $15,000 bond.At the Johnston County Jail, he was served also warrants taken out in Smithfield Thursday on charges of second-degree trespassing, harassing phone calls and stalking. An additional $1,500 was added to his bond.On Tuesday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office had issued a warrant on a charge of failure to return rental property, and another $500 was added to his bond.
Two drivers taken to hospital
Two drivers were taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital Thursday night after a collision on North Bright Leaf Boulevard. Both were released later that day.Nahum Madrid, of 336 Green Pasture Road, Four Oaks, didn't stop for a red light, and his vehicle hit the car of
Lisa Marie Smith, of 115 Bradford St., Smithfield shortly before 9 p.m., according to a police report. The incident happened at the intersection of Booker Dairy Road and North Bright Leaf Boulevard.
Madrid was charged with a red light violation, police reported.
Trailer stolen
Flanders-Precisionaire at 2121 Wal-Pat Road reported the theft of a $14,000 trailer from the property between 4 and 4:20 p.m. Thursday. Smithfield police are investigating.
Thief nabs cigarettes
Authorities are looking for the person who stole hundreds of dollars worth of cigarettes from a convenience store near Smithfield.Early Friday morning, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office received a report that someone had broken into the Myers Community Mart at 4321 U.S. 70. Newport cigarettes worth $347.50 and Marlboro cigarettes worth $151.25 were stolen, according to an investigation report.
