Man charged with forgery
Smithfield police on Tuesday charged a local man with three counts of forgery and uttering a forged instrument, both felony offenses. Demetrius Devaughn, 26, of 109 Old Farm Road, was arrested at 10 p.m. at the Johnston Jail. Warrants for his arrest had been issued on April 11, according to a police report.
His bond was set at $50,000.
Dunn woman suspected of assault
A Dunn woman is in the Johnston County Jail with no bond after being charged with assault with a deadly weapon.Smithfield police took Jackie Lynn Gregory, 18, of 1080 George Perry Lee Road, into custody at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 95 near Exit 93, according to a report.Morris Marshall Covington, 25, of 8276 N.C. 27 in Coats, had told Smithfield police that Gregory assaulted him with a knife, causing minor injuries, at 6 p.m. at 106 Henley Place in Smithfield.
Two arrested for breaking into home
Smithfield police on Tuesday charged two people with breaking and entering into an apartment at 924 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive sometime between 8 p.m. Monday and 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.Mary Elaine Phillips, 35, of 201 Hartley Dr., and Thomas Bodrick, 45, of 915 West St., were arrested at noon at the scene, according to a report.Phillips was charged with breaking and entering, and taken to the Johnston County Jail on a $750 bond. Bodrick was charged with breaking and entering and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $1,000.
Man arrested for drugs
A Clayton man was arrested for drugs Tuesday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported.Quantez LeKeith Woodhouse, 21, of 549-B Norris Road, was charged with one count each of possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $10,000.Detective Chris Strickland said Woodhouse was stopped on N.C. 42 West for a traffic violation. A deputy found marijuana and what he suspected was cocaine in the vehicle, Strickland said.
Robber hits Princeton home
Items worth more than $2,000 were stolen from a Princeton home, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported. The resident told deputies jewelry, four guns, a CD/DVD player and $1,000 cash were taken from his home on Old Rock Quarry Road Tuesday.
More copper stolen
Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating another case involving stolen copper tubing. A Clayton resident reported the tubing, worth $5,000, was missing from his home on Wilson Jones Road Tuesday, according to a report.
