Storm drain cover thief hits again
More storm drain covers are being stolen in Clayton.

Ashley Furniture reported that two covers were stolen from its facility on U.S. 70 West Business Wednesday. Police received a report of five covers stolen on Glen Laurel Road the previous day.

Store reports burglary
Smithfield police are investigating a burglary reported at New York Styles at 721 N. Bright Leaf Blvd. Just a few minutes after midnight Thursday, the store reported someone used a blunt object to gain entry. Police seized a Pontiac Grand Prix, two cellphones, a shirt and a shoe as part of the investigation, according to a report.

Wanted woman arrested for shoplifting
A Clayton woman wanted by N.C. Probation and Parole and Wilson’s Mills Police Department was arrested in Smithfield Wednesday night for shoplifting at Wal-Mart.

Shortly before midnight Wednesday, an employee of the North Bright Leaf Boulevard store reported a shoplifting of a woman’s shirt, pair of pants and a baseball cap.

Police arrived at the store to arrest Sonya Bizzell Sanders, 39, of Lot 1 in Hidden Acres Mobile Home Park in Clayton. They also served her with two warrants from March, one for felony conversion and one for motor vehicle theft. She was taken to the Johnston Jail and her bonds totaled $22,000, according to a report. All the merchandise taken from Wal-Mart was recovered.

Wanted man picked up in Smithfield
Smithfield police on Wednesday picked up a Selma man wanted in Wake County for failure to appear in court on larceny and driving while license revoked charges.

Darryl Twan Hines, 42, of 102 Summit St., was arrested at 9 a.m. at 120 S. Second St. He was taken to the Johnston County Jail and placed under a $10,000 bond, according to a report.

Vehicle damaged in Clayton
Clayton police are investigating a report of automobile damage.

A South Moore Street resident reported that a brick had been thrown through his car window at his home Wednesday. Damage was estimated at $100, according to a report.
