Man arrested for drinking in park
Clayton police on Tuesday arrested a local man for drinking alcohol in a park.Frank Thompson Jr., 37, of 616 Westbrook Lane, was charged with one count of public consumption, according to a report. Police reported that Thompson was drinking in a park on Amelia Church Road. Also a handgun was seized from Thompson’s vehicle.
Woman suspected of using bad checks
Smithfield police on Thursday arrested a local woman on 10 charges of forgery of an instrument and 10 counts of uttering a forged instrument.Christy Marie Lannie Love, 22, of 408 N. Fourth St., was taken into custody at 2:15 p.m. at the Smithfield Police station. Warrants for her arrest had been taken out April 11, according to a report.The arrest follows a report filed in March, in which a Raleigh man told police that someone had used several counterfeit checks at a grocery store at 836 W. Market St. between January and March.Love was taken to the Johnston Jail and placed under a $10,000 bond.
Clayton man charged with DWI
Clayton police on Wednesday nabbed a man for driving drunk.Stephen Wayne Eggers, 36, of 55 Brookmont Drive, Clayton, was charged with one count each of careless and reckless driving and driving while impaired. Police reported that Eggers was speeding, weaving in and out of traffic and driving left of center on U.S. 70 West.
Man left accident scene, police say
A Coats man was arrested for leaving the scene of a car accident Monday, Benson police reported.James Kyle Faircloth, 23, was charged with two counts of hit-and-run and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for careless and reckless driving.Faircloth hit a stop sign on Hale Street and continued south on U.S. 301. He rammed into another stop sign and metal pole at West Brocklyn Street and U.S. 301 before turning into Young’s Motor Co, according to a report. The sign was thrown and hit a vehicle belonging to the car dealership. Police later found him at Hedges Apartment. A glass pipe was found in his pocket during a consent search.
Five arrested in meth case
Five people were arrested after components to manufacture methamphetamine were found in a motel room, Benson police reported. Brian Lynn Ryals, 30, of 182 Young Road, Angier; Jeffrey Wayne Stephenson, 30, of 417 Aquilla Road, Benson; Danny Ray Bradley Jr., 31, and Destiny Star Bradley, 24, both of 526 Red Hill Church Road, Dunn; and Amy Council Weaver, 31, of 116 Hope Lane, Dunn, were arrested.Danny Bradley and Weaver were charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stephenson was charged with possession of methamphetamine precursor, possession of drug paraphernalia and open container of alcohol. Ryals was charged with possession of methamphetamine precursor, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license. Destiny Bradley was charged with possession of methamphetamine precursor.
Stephenson, Ryals and Destiny Bradley were each placed under $50,000 bonds. Weaver and Danny Bradley were each given $15,000 bonds.Sgt. Danny Lucas stopped a vehicle on N.C. 242, south of Main Street after he noticed the driver was driving erratically, according to a report. The driver, Ryals, told police he had an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Ryals had a suspended driver’s license and missed several court appearances, the report states. Also, passenger Stephenson was visibly heavily intoxicated, the sergeant reported.Lucas and fellow officers found three boxes of Sudafed in the vehicle. Officers found also various items that can be used to make and smoke methamphetamine, including batteries, camping fuel, plastic containers, funnels and rags coated in an oily substance.Ryals told the officers he was on his way to visit his pregnant girlfriend, Destiny Bradley, at the Dutch Inn. When officers arrived at the hotel, Danny Bradley and Weaver were in the room. Officers found pills, white powder in a bag and burnt aluminum foil strips that were hidden in a toilet, according to the report.
