A traffic stop on Saturday yielded the arrest of man wanted for drugs and sexual assault charges, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported.Quantez LeKeith Woodhouse, 21, of 549-B Norris Road, Clayton, was charged with one count each of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and second-degree sexual offense. His bond was set at $55,500.Sheriff's spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said a deputy stopped Woodhouse at Jack and Government roads in Clayton for a traffic violation. The deputy found two bags of marijuana and 3.5 grams of cocaine on Woodhouse, she said. Further investigation revealed Woodhouse was also wanted on warrants of second-degree sexual offense that were issued last year, Amaon said. A 19-year-old woman from Clayton had reported she was sexually assaulted while unconscious at a party, Amaon said.
Man arrested for drugs, traffic violations
Clayton police on Sunday arrested a local man for numerous traffic violations and drugs. Matthew James Bunnal, of 120 Loop Road, was charged with one count each of driving while impaired, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report. Police found 6.3 grams of marijuana when Bunnal was stopped on Barber Mill Road.
Store broken into
Clayton police are investigating a break-in at a local business. Speedy Communication reported a window had been broken with a piece of concrete Monday, according to a report. Police did not reveal what was taken from the U.S. 70 business, but did say a pack of cigarettes were found at the scene. Damages to the window were estimated at $2,000.
Student accused of carrying weapons
A West Johnston High School student is accused of carrying weapons in his book bag, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported.Sheriff's spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said an 18-year-old student from Willow Spring and an 18-year-old student from Smithfield got into a verbal argument at the school Friday. A deputy found scissors, knives and razorblades in the Willow Spring student’s book bag, she said. The student was issued a criminal summons for communicating threats, carrying a weapon on school grounds and attempted assault with a deadly weapon, Amaon said.
Embezzlement at restaurant investigated
Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a possible embezzlement at a restaurant in the Cleveland community.Golden Corral, of Son-Lan Parkway, reported $915 missing from a cash register Sunday. No arrests have been made.
Business robbed of merchandise
A Four Oaks company is missing almost $16,000 worth of merchandise, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported.Gottago Trucking reported 100 brake pads and other items, including tires, rims, tools and jewelry, were stolen from the Devil’s Racetrack Road business. Gottago Trucking reported the missing items were last seen at the store in January.
Store reports receiving bad checks
Sears reported it received four bad checks Monday, Clayton police said. The checks, totaling almost $2,000, were passed at the U.S. 70 store.
Man suspected of stealing checks
A Clayton man has been arrested for stealing checks and writing them to businesses across Johnston County, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported.Michael Jason Murray, 30, of 2104 Persimmon Circle, was charged with four counts of forgery of an instrument, six counts of uttering a forged instrument and seven counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. Clayton and Wilson’s Mills police arrested Murray on 10 charges in March, but sheriff’s deputies brought forth additional charges April 7.Sheriff’s spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said a woman reported to Wendell police that someone had stolen checks from her home. Murray is suspected of using the checks at various stores, including White Swan Bar-B-cue and Clayton Food Town. He was placed under a $65,000 bond.
