Garner man arrested for assault
Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies on Monday arrested a Garner man for assaulting and robbing a Four Oaks-area man.

Michael Anton Johnson, 21, was charged with two counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree kidnapping. He was placed under a $200,000 bond, according to a report.

The victim reported that three people approached him and a friend on Raleigh Road Sunday, said Sheriff's spokeswoman Tammy Amaon. Johnson, the driver, pulled out a gun and demanded money, Amaon said. Johnson then hit the victim on the nose with the gun, took $20 from his pocket and sped off toward Benson, she said.

Amaon said the victim was treated for a broken nose at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

Woman reports theft
A Clayton woman reported to police that jewelry was stolen from her home. Tracey Moore-Dunn, 35, said two rings were taken from her Oakdale Avenue home. She last saw the jewelry at her home two weeks ago. The jewelry was valued at $3,500.

Town property damaged
Clayton police are investigating damage to town property. Town employee James Warren reported that a secured metal gate was pried open on Durham Street Monday. Damage to the property was estimated at $350.

Patron left without paying, restaurant reports
Smithfield police are looking for the person who ran up a $20.76 bill at Applebee’s and skipped out on the check. The eatery reported the incident at 9:10 p.m. Monday night, according to a report.
