Couple arrested for assaulting each other
A Clayton man and a Clayton woman were arrested for assaulting each other Tuesday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Yolanda Graves Franklin, 40, was charged with one count of assault inflicting serious injury. Her boyfriend, Ronald Moretime Sanders, 46, was charged with one count each of assault on a female and possession of a non-tax paid alcoholic beverage. They both live at 4238 Barber Mill Road.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said deputies found Sanders holding his arm in a towel when they arrived at the home. Sanders reported Franklin stabbed him in the arm with a knife, Amaon said. Franklin said Sanders slapped and kicked her in the arm, Amaon said.

Deputies found three jugs of non-tax paid liquor and a marijuana cigarette in the home, Amaon said.

Driver taken to hospital after crash
A Clayton woman was taken to a hospital Tuesday morning after her car was struck on North Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield.

According to a Smithfield police report, the Honda of Nicole Ryan Sieber, of 120 Colonial Dr., was hit by a Smithfield man's Chevy when she was trying to cross the northbound lanes to make a southbound turn onto the boulevard from a gas station.

Sieber was later charged with failing to see before starting, according to the report. She was treated at and released from Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Four charged with drug crimes
Four men were nabbed on drug charges during a traffic stop Tuesday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Jujuan Marquis Cox, 23, of Dudley, was arrested and charged with one count each of carrying a concealed weapon, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. He was placed under a $26,000 bond.

Ronald Princegerald Cox, 20, of Dudley, and Derek Leonardo Bryant, 20, and Tommy Ray Smith, 19, both of Goldsboro, were charged with one count each of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. They were each placed under $25,000 bonds.

Deputies stopped Ronald Cox and the three passengers on Brogden Road in Smithfield, said Sheriff's spokeswoman Tammy Amaon. Deputies found four ounces of marijuana hidden under a seat and three guns in the trunk, she said.

Home invasion suspect arrested for drugs
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Middlesex man on drug charges, but he is also suspected of breaking into another man’s home.

Timothy James Turner, 31, of 122 Otis Court, was charged with one count each of felonious possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed under a $10,500 bond.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said Turner is suspected of breaking into a home at 706 Barnes Lake Road in Middlesex Tuesday. Turner, who was armed with a gun, told the homeowner to lay on the floor, Amaon said. Turner then ran off with a gold bracelet, $450 cash and the homeowner's wallet, but was later caught by deputies on Will Road, Amaon said. Deputies found a crack pipe and cocaine in the vehicle, she said.

Suspect nabbed for theft
Smithfield police on Tuesday arrested a man wanted on breaking and entering and larceny charges, according to a report.

Jonathan Edward Massengill, 31, of 608B S. Fourth St., was arrested at 10:41 p.m. at 119 W. Caroline Ave. He was taken to the Johnston County Jail, and no bond was set.
