Store threatened
Friedman’s Jewelers at 1285 N. Bright Leaf Blvd. in Smithfield received a bomb threat Thursday afternoon. According to an employee, the threat was made at 3:36 p.m., a police report stated.Smithfield police are investigating.
Town property stolen
More property belonging to the Town of Clayton is missing, police reported.Three storm drain covers on Town Centre Boulevard and Gateway Drive were stolen Thursday. Earlier this week, another cover was taken from Kenmore Drive. The covers are valued at $200 apiece.Also, on Wednesday, a steel trailer hitch was removed off Neuse Ridge Drive. The item was valued at $50.
Clayton home broken into
Clayton police are investigating a home break-in that occurred Thursday.A Marrian Drive resident reported that four guns, a safe, a computer and a window screen were taken from his home. A locked window was forced open to gain entry into the residence, according to a police report.
Two arrested for shop lifting
Two Benson women were arrested for stealing from Family Dollar Sunday, Benson police reported.Norma Gene Hollin, 40, of 410 N. Lee St., and Amy Sills Tonetti, 40, of 319 N. Hall St., were each charged with one count of shoplifting. They were placed under $500 bonds apiece.Family Dollar manager reported that she saw Hollin and Tonetti sitting in front of the business on East Parrish Drive. The manager suspected that the pair had stolen clothing and candy. Police found cleaning and food items from Family Dollar in Tonetti’s vehicle, according to a police report.
