Money stolen from restaurant
Benson police are investigating a theft from a local restaurant, according to a report. Kentucky Fried Chicken reported that $250 had been stolen from a deposit Saturday.

Suspected gas thief tries to escape police
A Faison man was nabbed recently for stealing fuel and trying to escape police officers.

Moses Gregg King, 50, was arrested and charged with one count each of speeding to elude arrest, failure to stop for a blue light and siren, careless and reckless driving and running a stop sign May 6. His bond was set at $11,500.

Benson police followed King from Short Stop on East Main Street after he took fuel from one of the gas pumps, according to a report. The chase ensued onto Interstate 95 North and then Interstate 40 East. A trailer attached to King’s vehicle broke loose at mile marker 331 and burst into flames.

The N.C. Highway Patrol and Benson police caught King a few miles further down the interstate.

Police investigate two break-ins
Clayton police are looking into break-ins at two homes.

A Ses Drive resident told police jewelry, 200 DVDs and a 50-inch television were taken from her home Monday. The items were valued at $33,850, according to a report.

An Old Meadow Road resident reported that containers filled with coins were stolen from her home the same day. The coins were valued at $3,025.

Two teens suspected of breaking into home
Smithfield police on Monday arrested two 16-year-olds following a break-in at a local home.

At 7:24 a.m., a Rand Street resident reported her home had just been entered forcibly and a DVD player, a game center, two flat screen televisions and a computer were taken. All of her belongings were later recovered, according to a report.

Smithfield police arrested Desean Sanchess Farmer, 16, of 918 East St. and Cameron Watson Perry, 16, of 818 Martin St. at their homes at 11 a.m. Perry is a student at Smithfield Middle School.

Both Farmer and Perry were charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of larceny, and were jailed under $40,000 bonds.

Man accused of theft
Smithfield police on Monday arrested a Knightdale man on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Ronald Tyler Barbour, 20, of 310 Eathwick Dr. was arrested at 3:45 p.m. at 810 Hancock St. Warrants for his arrest had been issued April 19, according to a report.

He was taken to the Johnston County Jail and placed under a $21,000 bond.
