Helms served summons on assault charge following fightSmithfield Police served a criminal summons Thursday night to the local World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler involved in a fight shortly after 1 a.m. on May 6 at N & N Sports Bar, 150 S. Equity Dr.At 8:07 p.m., Gregory Shane “Hurricane” Helms, 33, of 101 Heritage Dr., Smithfield, was served the summons to appear in district court on July 8 on one count of assault and battery. At the time of the incident, Dustin Curtis Narron, 29, of 253 Live Oak Church Rd., Selma was charged with one count of assault and arrested under a $500 bond.Helms is listed as an acquaintance of Narron’s, and suffered minor injuries in the incident.Benson woman reports theft of $560 in changeA woman reported that a large sum of change had been stolen from her home, Benson Police reported.Bobby Esteban, 58, said she went out of town for three months. When she returned to her apartment on North Ryals Street Wednesday, Esteban found $560 missing from a jar in the living room. She had two suspects in mind that might have taken the money, but no arrests have been made. Game stolen from Jay's Wash HouseA countertop video game was stolen from Jay’s Wash House, Benson Police reported. The game was stolen from the business during operating hours at East Church Street Thursday. It was valued at $1,800.
