Canaanland will sing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy on Lizzie Mill Road, Selma. A soup and sandwich supper is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church on Meadowbrook Road in the Meadow community. The church will accept donations for the meal.

Feb. 17 is Friendship Sunday at Cornerstone Baptist Church near Princeton. Breakfast will be at 9 a.m. Sunday School and the worship service will follow at 9:45 and 10:45 a.m., respectively. The church will recognize the adult and children who bring the most guests.

A gospel sing fest is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Disciples of Christ Church on Devil's Racetrack Road, Four Oaks. The concert will feature all-male choruses from the following churches: Cutts Chapel of Angier, Bentonville, First Baptist of Roseboro, Howell Chapel, Hickory Grove, Wesley Chapel AME and Word Church of Deliverance. Also, Pastor Morris Sanders will sing.

A celebration of black history is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday at Holy Temple Church of God, 228 Montgomery Heights Road, Selma. Pastor DeAshley Curtis will speak. Lunch will follow the program.

A Joy Night service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Sinai Holy Church in Pine Level. Elder Lavita Preston of We Touch and Agree Ministry in Reynold, Ohio, will speak. For directions, call 965-8424.

Revival services are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at the Selma Church of God, 905 W. Oak St., Selma. The Rev. Jerry Hall of Dunn will speak.

Bishop Thomas Thompson, pastor of Mt. Sinai Church of Christ in Mount Olive, will speak at 11 a.m. Sunday at Avery Grove AME Zion Church on Freedom Road, Smithfield.

The Rev. Dorothy Richardson will speak at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Augustine AME Church in Clayton.

"Dress to Impress," a celebration of Black History Month, is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Howell Chapel Church of Christ, 214 E. Preston St., Selma. A program in honor of African-American heroes is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday.

Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church will install its new pastor, the Rev. Ellis T. Cozart Jr., at 4 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Tony W. Cozart will speak. He is pastor of Cooks Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Warren Plains. Oakey Grove is at 3525 U.S. 70 Business west of Smithfield.

Bishop Joseph Peten Jr. will be elevated to the office of apostle on Sunday. The service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Mission of Hope Outreach Ministry Church, 102 Market St., Smithfield. Apostle Clarence V. Blunt III of Raleigh will conduct the service.
