A blood drive is scheduled from 9 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 7438 N.C. 96 North, Selma. Free Health Fair
A free health fair is scheduled from 1:30 till 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Johnston County Health Department on North Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield.The fair will offer vision testing for children 4 and older, hearing screening for children 3 and older, prostate-cancer screening for men ages 50-50 and breast-cancer exams for women. Also, the fair will offer HIV testing, diabetes testing, blood-pressure checks and cholesterol testing. At 4 p.m., doctors will answer questions.The Highway Patrol will show how to install car seats, a fire truck will be on hand, and nutrition information will be available. For children, the fair will offer removable tattoos, face painting, games and story time.
Lifetime Connections
The Johnston County Chapter of First In Families of North Carolina will hold an information meeting on Monday. The meeting, about a program called Lifetime Connections, will begin at 7 p.m. at North Smithfield Baptist Church, 19 E. Dail St., Smithfield.Lifetime Connections is designed to serve as a bridge to the community for people with all types of disabilities.
