Steakhouse adds lunch to menuThe Clayton Steakhouse began serving lunch this week.Owners Michael and Betsy Grannis opened the restaurant for dinner only earlier this year. After requests from numerous customers, the Grannises decided it was time to try their hand at lunch.The salad bar and loaded baked potato, both popular during dinner, are available for lunch. Diners can choose from grilled steak, chicken or salmon to go on top of their salads.Also on the lunch menu: a steak sandwich with onions and provolone cheese, a half-pound Angus burger and grilled chicken sandwich on a basil herb roll. Cold sandwiches and wraps stuffed with turkey, ham or roast beef and various cheeses are available too.“We will even allow the customer to mix and match,” Michael said. “What I mean by that is if the customer wants one meat choice, two meat choices or three meat choices, they can have that.”Clayton Steakhouse is at 307 E. Main St. Lunch hours are 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The telephone number is 553-2299.Cleveland cutsA new barbershop has opened in the Cleveland community.Ivan Otero has opened Cleveland Cuts in Peddler’s Village shopping center. A barber for 28 years, he owned shops in Connecticut and Raleigh. Also, he worked at All-Star Barber Shop in Smithfield before opening the Cleveland shop. Otero offers haircuts for mostly men and children. He is looking for a hairdresser who can cut women’s hair. “I do regular haircuts, layered haircuts, military cuts, scissor cuts and clipper cuts,” he said. Cleveland Cuts is at 5536 N.C. 42 West. Also in Cleveland, Cook Out, a drive-thru chain founded in Greensboro, is now serving milkshakes, burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and barbecue.Cook Out is at 102 Bratton Drive, across from Lowe’s Home Improvement. Hours are 10 a.m. till 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. till 3:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.Mattress CapitalA new tenant has come to Southern Village shopping center in Clayton. Matt Boomsma opened Mattress Capital, which sells Serta, Tempur-Pedic and Spring Air mattresses. Boomsma owns three other stores, in Wake Forest, Holly Springs and Durham. “We really like the growth that Clayton has experienced over the last few years,” Boomsma said. “The new Ashley Furniture store is right there. A lot of times, a good mattress store really complements that.”Mattress Capital is at 8928 U.S. 70 West Business.
