Selma adds to its line of antiques

Another antique store has opened in downtown Selma.

Bill and Mary Caldwell of Smithfield have opened His ’n Hers Antiques. They began selling their antiques at flea markets five years ago but dreamed of opening a storefront. The items, including dishes, furniture, glasses and pottery, come from auctions, estate sales and yard sales.

“We already knew that the town supports antiques,” said Bill Caldwell, who retired from IBM last year. “Unlike other businesses, it’s better to be in a place with more antique dealers because you complement each other.”

His ‘n Hers Antiques is at 126 S. Raiford St. Hours are 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The telephone number is 202-8007. The Web site, www.hisnhersantiques.com, is under construction.

Quality Therapy expands

Owner and physical therapist Andrea Martin has opened an office in Kenly. Her Smithfield office opened nine years ago. Both offices offer in-home and outpatient services.

“Smithfield is in a pretty central location, but the patients who live way out in Kenly or other outlying areas like that would like to be able to go somewhere close to home,” said Leigh Anne Pope, coordinator of business development in the Kenly and Smithfield offices.

Quality Therapy will begin a lymphodema-management program a the end of August. Lymphodema is the abnormal accumulation of fluid, which can swell the arms, legs and neck.

“One thing about Quality Therapy that I am very proud of, and I have been with them a year now, is we are a one-stop shop,” Pope said. “We are a certified Medicare rehab agency, and that is the highest credential a private practice can have. With that credential, it affords us the opportunity to see different patients.”

Quality Therapy’s Kenly office is at 212 W. 2nd St. It is open from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more details, call 284-3337 or visit www.qualitytherapy.org.

Jewelry in Clayton

Maria Bunn of Clayton has become an independent consultant for Premier Designs Jewelry, which sells high-fashion jewelry.

“I just love the jewelry, and it’s a wonderful company,” Bunn said. “There are only a few companies out there that truly believe you should be in business to serve rather than to sell.”

Most of the sales come from home shows. Bunn spreads out more than 80 pieces of jewelry at the host’s home. She shows the guests how to wear the jewelry so it flatters the body. Some jewelry can make people appear 10 pounds lighter if worn the right way, Bunn said.

The host receives 30 percent of the sales to use for her personal purchases.

“You just have a lot of fun with them,” Bunn said of the people at the shows. “You meet a lot of nice people.”

For more information about Premier Designs Jewelry, contact Bunn at 553-4826 or at jewels4u@live.com. The national Web site is www.premierdesigns.com.
