South, West, SSS win on Thursday night
The quartet of Thursday night specials were good to the Trojans, Wildcats and Spartans.
Thursday's scores from across the county
South Johnston 36, Clayton 26
The Comets rushed for 429 yards — 327 from Anthony Hinton — but South Johnston scored on drives of one, two, three and four plays and never trailed after the second quarter.
West Johnston 49, North Johnston 14
The Wildcats moved to 3-0 for the first time in school history.
Smithfield-Selma 22, Chapel Hill 12
The Spartans avenged a second-round 4-A playoff loss last season and picked up their second straight regular-season win over the Tigers.
Dixon 7, Princeton 6
The Bulldogs from Holly Ridge held on for a one-point victory after leading 7-0 at the half.
