A Parade of Hats is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at St. Stephen’s Church of Christ, 308 W. 1st St., Princeton.

Barbecued chicken

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, at Asbury United Methodist Church on South Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield. The cost is $7 per plate, with takeout available.

Johnston Chapel

A missions program is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, May 3, at Johnston Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 6147 Raleigh Road, Benson. Pastor Willie McLeod will speak. A Mother’s Board program is scheduled for 3 p.m. Minister Betty Washington will speak.

Barbecued chicken

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. Friday, May 8, at Higher Heights Church of God, 556 E. Front St., Clayton. The cost is $6 per plate and includes half a chicken, boiled potatoes, green beans, roll and cake.

150 years at Horne

Horne Memorial United Methodist Church will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Sunday, May 3. The church will hold traditional and contemporary worship services at 9:30 and 11 a.m. A hot dog lunch will follow the 11 a.m. service, and memorabilia will be on display in the fellowship hall. The church is at 121 E. 2nd St. in Clayton. For more information, call Bertha Crabtree at 553-7381.

Dinner and an auction

Plates of barbecued pork and chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Smyrna Original Free Will Baptist Church on N.C. 96 three miles south of Meadow School. The cost is $7 per plate. An auction will begin at 7 p.m.
