Richard Hinnant, 84, of Micro died Saturday, May 23.

Born Feb. 16, 1925, in Micro, Mr. Hinnant was a son of the late Oscar and Irma P. Hinnant. A farmer for more than 60 years, he also worked in tobacco warehouse in Johnston and Wilson counties. Mr. Hinnant was a charter member of the Micro Volunteer Fire Department. He had coached youth sports and was a member of Micro Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Hinnant had served on the board of BB&T, and he was a longtime member of the Johnston County Farm Bureau.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S. Pollock St., Selma. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, in the Hinnant family cemetery on Hinnant-Edgerton Road near Slema.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Hinnant; three sons, Darius Hinnant of Charlotte, Dwight Hinnant of Oak Island and Danny Hinnant of Micro; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Micro Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 247, Micro, N.C. 27555.
