Country Music at JCC

The next Country Music Showcase at Johnston Community College will salute “Hometown Heroes.” Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. June 12 and 2 and 7 p.m. June 13 in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium on the college’s Smithfield campus, 245 College Road. Guest performers for the June shows are Daniel and Samantha Casey, Rebecca Culbreth, Ricky Hale, Hayley Hall, Jonathan Parker, Greg Tart and Stephanie Wiggins. Tickets in advance are $10 for evening shows and $8 for the Saturday matinee. At the door, tickets are $12 and $10, respectively. For tickets, call the auditorium box office at 209-2099. The box office is open from 1:30 till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Music in Selma

Here is the June schedule for the Country Tonight Music Show at the Ice House Theatre, 112 N. Webb St., Selma: 7:45 p.m. June 5, 12, 19 and 26. Doors open at 7 p.m. For ticket prices and each week’s featured band, visit countrytonightmusicshow.com.

Here is this year’s “Music for the Lunch Bunch” schedule: June 17 — Kate Pearson, violin. June 24 — Anna Lee Crumpton, harp. July 8 — Carrie Wright, violin, and Robert Goodwin, trumpet. July 15 — Anne Leyland, violin; Nate Leyland, cello; Joan Beck, violin; Molly Olah, viola; and Aaron Harman, bassoon. July 22 — Ella Anne Holding, piano. July 29 — Brandon Allen, flute. Aug. 5 — Julie Stewart and students, vocal. August 12 — Nate Leyland, cello, and Howard Kim, piano. Note: The June 24 concert will be at First Baptist Church on South Fourth Street in Smithfield. All others will be at First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Church and South Third streets in Smithfield. The concerts will begin at 12:15 p.m. Admission is free.

Summer Dayz at Lazy O

Summers Dayz are under way at Lazy O Farm, 3583 Packing Plant Road, Smithfield. Bag up your own dirt and seeds to take home for planting. Make and eat ice cream and butter, hop on a hayride and visit the barnyard animals. On June 20, the farm will be open to the public. Other days are by reservation. Drama in Smithfield

The Neuse Little Theatre will present Tennessee Williams’ “Suddenly Last Summer.” Shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. June 5-6, 3 p.m. June 7 and 8 p.m. June 12-13 in The Hut on Front Street in Downtown Smithfield. For reservations, call 934-1873.

Variety in Selma

Here’s the June schedule for the American Music Jubilee, the variety show at The Rudy Theatre in Selma: June 6, 7:40 p.m.; June 11, 1:40 p.m.; June 13, 7:40 p.m.; June 20, 1:40 p.m.; and June 27, 7:40 p.m. For reservations, call 202-9927.

Music in Smithfield

John Allen and Bluegrass Magic will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, at Orchard House Booksellers, 117 N. 3rd St., Smithfield. Admission is free; refreshments will be available. Tuesdays are Open Mic Night at Orchard House. Hours are 6 till 8 p.m.

Tractor, truck pulls

Tractor and truck pulls will get under way at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Four Oaks Pulling Track, 659 Tettersville Road, Four Oaks. Admission is $5, with children 12 and younger admitted free.

Civil War history

A living-history program is scheduled from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site on Harper House Road in the Bentonville community. The program will include musket demonstrations at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30. Artillery firings will take place at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
