Town issues boil-water advisory
The Town of Smithfield is advising some customers to boil their water for one minute before using. Also, the town is asking those customers to conserve water.A water-main break has caused low pressure and outages along U.S. 70 Business from Strickland Drive to the town limits. This includes Rose Manor subdivision, West View subdivision, Rogers Drive and Roderick Drive. Customers in the area should boil their water before using.Periods of low pressure or no pressure can introduce bacteria into the water system.The advisory remains in effect until further notice.
