George Allen Lane, 63, of Dudley died Thursday evening at his home.

Born March 26, 1946, in Wayne County, Mr. Lane was a son of the late Daniel Jackson and Maggie Hughes Lane. He was the owner of East Coast Construction Services in High Point. Mr. Lane was an avid fisherman.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Thanksgiving Baptist Church on N.C. 42 east of Clayton. The Rev. Steve Reed will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Edith Whitley Lane; a son, Scott Lane of Greensboro; five brothers, Royce Lane of Warsaw, Nelson Lane of Faison and Stevie Lane, Phil Lane and Carl Lane, all of Mount Olive; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 2 till 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, in care of Phyllis Thornton, P.O. Box 1544, Smithfield, N.C. 27577.
