Trail celebration

A celebration of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail will take place from 2 till 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in Portofino, the horse-friendly community at 3986 N.C. 42 east of Clayton. Dooodlebugs

Darkside Haunted Estates has opened at 11875 N.C. 222 West, Middlesex. Here's the remaining schedule: Oct. 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and 31.
