Johnston Health has scheduled the following events, classes and meetings.

Golf tournament

Like to play golf? The Johnston Health Foundation will host the Dr. Hubert M. Poteat Memorial Golf Tournament at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Country Club of Johnston County.

The $100 entry fee includes green fee, cart, lunch, refreshments, practice balls, mulligans and door prizes. The deadline to register is Oct. 9. For more information or to register, call Hector Perez at 938-7169.

Blood drive

A blood drive is scheduled from noon till 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the north entrance of the Johnston Health Medical Mall on North Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield. Call 938-7736 to make an appointment.

Breastfeeding class

Want to learn about the advantages of breastfeeding your baby? New parents are invited to a class from 6:30 till 9:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in the auditorium of the Medical Mall. The fee is $30 per couple.

Re-certification class

Need to re-certify in pediatric advanced life support? A PALS re-certification class will meet from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. Oct. 8 in Room 1404A of the Medical Mall. To register, call the Education Department at 938-7736. The fee is $200 and includes class materials.

CPR class

Want to learn CPR or need to re-certify? A beginner's class will meet from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Oct. 21 in Room 1404B of the Medical Mall. A re-certification class will meet from 1 till 4 p.m. Oct. 14 in Room 1404B of the Medical Mall. To register, call 938-7736. The fee for each class is $67 and includes materials.

Diabetes class

Want to learn how to better manage your diabetes? A class for outpatients will meet from 8:30 a.m. till 5 p.m. Oct. 27 in Room 1404A of the Medical Mall.

Participants must have orders from their doctors to attend and must contact the hospital's scheduling department for an appointment.

Insurance will be filed.

Offering support

If you've lost a loved one or have been diagnosed with diabetes, you can find information and encouragement from others in a support group.

A grief-support group will meet from 6 till 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in Room 1404A of the Medical Mall.

A diabetes-support group will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 in rooms 1404A and B. The meetings are free.
