James Ransom “Pa Jim” Price, 71, of Micro died Tuesday, Oct. 6, at his home.Born June 4, 1938, in Johnston County, Mr. Price was the son of the late Joseph Henry and Betty Nora Parrish Price. He was a retired from Firestone tire company, where he was a quality-controller technician. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Price was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Lucama and the Micro Liar’s Club. He had been a member of fire and resice squads in Smithfield, Goldsboro and Salisbury. Mr. Price had been an Elm City town commissioner. He was Elm City’s fire chief for eight years and helped to form the Elm City Rescue Squad.The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S. Pollock St., Selma. The Revs. Wayne Whitley and Al Warrick will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the cemetery at Parrish Memorial Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Cindy Peele of Selma and Crissty Scott of Kenly; a stepson, Justin Bandy of Wilson; two sisters, Edith Grey Strickland of Smithfield and Peggy Crumpler of Selma; and three grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the funeral home.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Micro Fire Department, P.O.
