V. Swade Peele, 82, of 64 Old Oak Lane, Dunn, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Betsy Johnson Hospital.

Born Dec. 19, 1926, in Johnston County, Mr. Peele was a son of the late James Menter and Bertha Creech Peele. He was the widower of Myrtle N. Peele. They were married for 58 years. Mr. Peele was the owner and operator of Swade Peele Tire Co. in Dunn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Peele was a member of Palmyra Lodge No. 147, the Sudan Shrine Temple and the Dunn Shrine Club.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at First Presbyterian Church in Dunn. Dr. David Sherrod officiated. Burial with Masonic rites followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Peele of Benson and Amanda L. Peele of Dunn.

The family suggests memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church, 901 N. Park Ave., Dunn, N.C. 28334; or to Benson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 623, Benson, N.C. 27504.
