The Johnston County school system has named its Employee of the Month for October. She is Sandy Smith, a kindergarten teacher at Four Oaks Elementary School.
Here's what a parent said: "Ms. Smith has empowered her students to explore the world around them through a variety of classroom activities and experiences. Lessons created by Ms. Smith truly provide students the opportunity to learn on their own terms and in their own unique learning style. Finally, Ms. Smith treats her students as she would treat her own children, being sure to learn about each child and how they see the world around them. Ms. Smith has created a spark in my child that is the beginning of a flame for knowledge that will last a lifetime."
