Last day for market

The Clayton Farm and Community Market will celebrate its final day of the 2009 season on Saturday, Oct. 31. The last day will feature a costume contest for dogs at 10 a.m.; a costume contest for kids at 11 a.m.; and a pumpkin-carving contest at noon. Bring your own pumpkin; the market will provide decorations and carving utensils. The market will be open from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m.

'HOLYween' in Clayton

Parenting class

The Johnston County Health Department will offer a parenting class in November. Sessions are scheduled from 3 till 5 p.m. Nov. 4 and 18 at the Health Department, 517 N. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield. The Literary Guild at Johnston Community College is seeking vendors for its holiday arts and crafts show.
