The funeral was Monday, Oct. 12, at Wilson's Mills Baptist Church. The Rev. Billie Lawson officiated. Burial followed in the cemetery at Wilson's Mills Christian Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Teresa Murphy of Fuquay-Varina and Gina Perry of Clayton; a son, Shane Strickland of Clayton; a sister, Eunice Barbour of Smithfield; a brother, Doug Atwood of Raleigh; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
