SMITHFIELDYouth basketball sign-upsYouth basketball registration is open now until Oct. 30 for boys and girls ages 5-18. (Players must be 5 as of Dec. 31.) The cost is $35 for Town of Smithfield residents or $55 for non-residents. Practices will begin in late November with games starting in December. Racquetball 101Racquetball 101 is for anyone interested in learning the basics of the game of racquetball. Classes will be offered for kids ages 10-16 from 6 until 7:30 and for ages 17 and up from 7:30 until 9 on Tuesday nights, beginning Oct. 27. The class includes four sessions. The cost is $25 per person; SRAC members receive a 10 percent discount. The instructor is Sampson Richardson. Class is limited to five participants in each age group.
Fall Basketball ClinicA fall basketball clinic will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. The clinic will be led by James Robinson, boys' basketball coach at Smithfield Middle School. Kids ages 5-8 will attend from 9 till noon; children ages 9-14 will have a clinic from 1-4 p.m. Registration is $20 in advance or $25 the day of the clinic. Checks should be made payable to James Robinson. Register at the SRAC.
Down East Tennis Adult ClinicsMilton Price of Down East Tennis is now conducting adult introductory tennis clinics on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7 and 8-9 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 8-9 and 9-10 a.m. The cost is $5 per clinic. Class sizes are limited to 10 per class. The clinics will be held at the Smithfield Community Park's courts. Sign up through the Parks Dept.

Bridge ClubThe area club meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Smithfield Operations Center. Drop-ins are welcome.
SELMACar Raffle to support Youth FootballRaffle tickets for a Buick Lucerne, Pontiac G8 or GMC Acadia are now available through the Selma Parks Dept. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased the Parks Dept. office. All proceeds from the raffle, which is sponsored by Deacon Jones Buick-Pontiac-GMC, will go directly to the Selma Yellow Jackets Football and Cheerleading. Tickets will be available through Oct. 29.
Youth Basketball RegistrationThe Selma Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for the 2009-10 basketball season for boys ages 4-18 and girls ages 4-15 (as of Jan 1, 2010). The cost for Town of Selma residents is $25 or $30 for non-residents. Teams will begin practice after Thanksgiving with games being played in January and February. Games will be played Friday evenings and Saturdays. The deadline to register is Nov. 2.
