SSS class of 1978

The Smithfield-Selma High School class of 1978 will hold a reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Country Club of Johnston County, 694 Country Club Road, Smithfield. The cost is $50 per person. A hospitality room will be available from 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, till 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in Room 210 at the Jameson Inn, 125 S. Equity Drive, Smithfield. Bingo at South

Bingo play is scheduled from 5:30 till 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in the cafeteria at South Johnston High School, 10381 U.S. 301 South, Four Oaks. The grand prize is $250. Food will be available. Proceeds will go to the South High marching band.

Retirees to meet

The Johnston County Retired School Personnel will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Holt Lake Bar-B-Que & Seafood on U.S. 301 south of Smithfield. U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge will speak.

'Modern Gothic'

The West Johnston High School marching band will present its 2009 show, "Modern Gothic: A Darkness That Needs Light," at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the football stadium at the school, 5935 Raleigh Road near Coats Crossroads. Admission is free.

Lighthouse Christian

Lighthouse Christian Academy has announced its Principal's List and Honor Roll for the first nine weeks of school.

Principal's List -- Catherine Minton, Jessica Mundinger, Taylor Johnson and Ethan Greenwell.

Honor Roll -- Kobe Wood, Irelynd Wood, Reed Johnson, Jessie Wilson, Blake Baker, Cade Arnette, Celia Rusch, C.J. Baker, Hayden Hill, Jake Arnette, Kenlie Hall, Lindsey Roberts, Marley Boykin, Tara Wilson and Zack Mozingo.

Student attends forum

Amanda G. Ennis of Four Oaks attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Washington, D.C. She is the daughter of Ginger R. Ennis.

As part of the forum, Ennis visited medical facilities, including the George Washington University School of Medicine. Also, she viewed medical procedures and learned about medical careers.

Ennis, a senior at West Johnston High School, plans to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist. She is a cadet with 50-210 EMS and plans to be a basic EMT by year's end.

At West Johnston High School, Ennis is a member of the National Honor Society, the FFA and the Health Occupations Students of America. She is a member of the tennis team and has played soccer. Ennis is a member of Broken Wing Fellowship Church in Garner. She is the granddaughter of Edna and Ralph Blevins of the Cleveland community.

South High alumni

The South Johnston High School Alumni Association will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the Four Oaks library, 206 W. Hatcher St., Four Oaks. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the association and its mission to graduates of South Johnston High School.
