Country Tonight

The next Country Tonight Music Show is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at The Ice House Theatre, 112 N. Webb St., Selma. Clyde Mattocks' Without Further Ado Band, featuring Jessica Gardner, will perform. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $10. For reservations, call 252-237-6199.

'Guys & Dolls'

The Clayton High School Players will present "Guys & Dolls" at 7 p.m. Nov. 19-21 in the auditorium. Tickets are on sale now in the school office. They're $6 for students and $10 for adults. Those attending are asked to bring canned goods for a food drive.

'A Few Good Men'

The Neuse Little Theatre will present "A Few Good Men" at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. The drama is about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay. Music in Smithfield

A band will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Orchard House Booksellers, 117 N. 3rd St., Smithfield. Orchard House offers open mic from noon till 3 p.m. Thursdays and from 6 till 8 p.m. Tuesdays.

Auditions in Clayton

Auditions for "Pippin," a Clayton Youth Theater production, are scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 13 and 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. Auditions are open to students in grades 7-12; however, the show will cast one boy age 5-10. Students should prepare a song; a pianist will be available, or bring a CD. Rehearsals will begin Nov. 30.

Jazz seminar

"All that Jazz & More," a workshop for jazz musicians and singers, will be held Nov. 13-14 at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. Musicians will learn beginning jazz theory for all instruments. Vocalists will learn proper breathing techniques, building a repertoire, overcoming stage fright, vocal health and stylistic tools. Bentonville tickets

Advance tickets are on sale for the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Bentonville, the largest Civil War battle fought on North Carolina soil. The event will take place March 20-21, 2010. Tickets purchased before March 1, 2010, are $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 7-12. After March 1, tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children 6 and younger attend free.

More than 3,500 re-enactors and 30,000 spectators are expected to attend the event, which will include two battles, military and civilian encampments and special educational programs. Checks should be payable to the Bentonville Battlefield Historical Association.

Gospel music at JCC

The East Coast Gospel Music Association will hold a convention Nov. 13-14 in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. Music will start at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday.

The following will perform: the Carlson Trio, Master's III, the Down East Gospel Trio, Eternity, Second Edition, the Ambassadors, Servant's Heart, the Royal Descendants, Canaanland and Heaven Sent. Art in Clayton

Artwork by MJ Cunningham of Wilmington is on display through Nov. 30 at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton.

The Clayton Center gallery is open from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
