GOLDSBORO - Princeton wrapped up the regular season with another big offensive night from senior quarterback David Gurganus and receivers Benton Myers and Patrick Jacobs, who led the Bulldogs by rival Rosewood 42-20.

The win gives Princeton (8-3) second place outright in the Carolina 1-A Conference and a first round home date in this Friday's playoffs. The Bulldogs will face Hayesville (3-6) Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Fred Bartholomew Athletic Complex.

The victory over Rosewood was the Bulldogs' second straight in the series.

Gurganus threw for 419 yards and four passing touchdowns on 17-of-27 attempts and also rushed for a pair of touchdowns.

Jacobs caught seven of those passes, covering 199 yards, including TD receptions of 60 and 69 yards. The big night moved Jacobs over the 1,000-yard total in receiving yardage on the season.

Myers totaled 171 yards receiving and scoring catches of 72 and 28 yards.

The Bulldogs rolled up four first-quarter touchdowns, but led only 28-14 after the first 12 minutes of play. After Jacobs' 60-yard TD catch, the Eagles pulled even when Jamie Wooten returned a fumble 65 yards for a score.

But Gurganus answered with a pair of short touchdown runs and Myers added his 72-yard scoring pass after the Eagles had moved within 21-14 earlier in the quarter.

Princeton's 35-20 lead at the break held up through the second half.

Princeton kicker Morgan Brush was a perfect six-for-six on extra-points.
