ZEBULON - Manager David Bell, hitting coach Ryan Jackson and trainer Jimmy Mattocks III will all return to the Carolina Mudcats' staff for the 2010 season, the Cincinnati Reds have announced. The trio will be joined by pitching coach Tom Brown, who has served as the pitching coach at Single-A Sarasota (Fla.) for the previous three seasons.

The Mudcats -- in their first season as a Reds' affiliate -- finished 65-74 under Bell, 37. He retired as a player in 2006 after a major league career that included 1,403 games.

He is a third-generation MLB player, following grandfather Gus (1953-61) and father Buddy (1985-88) into the majors.

The 2010 season will be Jackson's fourth in the Reds' organization. The 37-year old played 11 years professionally, including four stints in the majors from 1998-2002.

Brown, 60, has served as a pro pitching coach since 1988, having worked with the staffs of three Triple-A clubs. He played with Seattle in the majors in 1978.

Mattocks, 27, is in his fifth season with the Reds' organization.

The Mudcats will start their 20th season on April 8 in Birmingham, Ala. against the Barons.
