Pianist Jimmy Aycock will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at The Clayton Center. The Christmas-themed concert is titled "Snow Tunes and Show Tunes." Proceeds will benefit the Clayton Historical Association. The Piney Grove Missionary Church Youth Choir will also perform. Tickets are $10 plus service fees.

The next Country Tonight Music Show in Selma will feature Nancy and Tammy Dail and the Country Roads Band.

All About Ballroom dance studio will stage its Winter Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Garner Historic Auditorium, 742 W. Garner Road, Garner.
Students will perform several dances, including the cha-cha, waltz, swing, foxtrot, rumba and tango.

Advance tickets are on sale for the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Bentonville, the largest Civil War battle fought on North Carolina soil. The event will take place March 20-21, 2010. Tickets purchased before March 1, 2010, are $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 7-12. After March 1, tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children 6 and younger attend free.
More than 3,500 re-enactors and 30,000 spectators are expected to attend the event, which will include two battles, military and civilian encampments and special educational programs.

The Country Music Showcase at Johnston Community College will present its Christmas show Dec. 3-6 in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium on the Smithfield campus, 245 College Road. Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 3-4, 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 5 and 3 p.m. Dec. 6. The December guests are Bill Leslie, the award-winning songwriter and WRAL-TV news anchor; Jessica Carter, a junior at South Johnston High School; Julie Hamilton, a Garner resident and Country Music Showcase veteran; Somer Overby of Middlesex, who performed at the State Fair in 2006 and 2007; Alvin Smith, known for his Elvis tribute; Joshua Sullivan, a saxophonist; and Breanna Williams, a sophomore at Smithfield-Selma High School.

The Town of Clayton will light its Christmas tree at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3. Main Street will close for music and business open houses. The tree lighting will be on the Town Square.
The town's Christmas parade will step off at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.
