Clyde's Chapel

Ham and turkey shoots are scheduled from 7 till 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5, at Clyde's Chapel Baptist Church, 16657 Buffalo Road near Archer Lodge. The cost is $5 per shot. A rainbow tea is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Mitchener Memorial Baptist Church, 911 Blount St., Smithfield. The evening will feature entertainment and refreshments.

Birthday party

A "Birthday Party for Christ" is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Johnston Medical Mall, 514 N. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield. The program will feature performances by Daunté Tyler, the IMI Puppet Ministry, Giner G. Vitus and D&J Mimes. Admission is $15 and includes dinner. Those attending are asked to bring donations of toys, personal-care items and clothing for women and children. The donations will go to Harbor Inc., which provides aid, including shelter, to victims of rape and domestic violence. For more information, call 919-989-6867.

Gospel music

The Hickory Grove Quartet and Amy Stephenson will sing at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Asbury Methodist Church, 215 E. Caroline Ave., Smithfield.

Admission is free. The organizers will collect an offering, with proceeds going to the Johnston County Recovery Corporation. For more details, call 320-8721.

St. Paul's Episcopal

The fifth annual Christmas tree, wreath and garland sale is under way at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Smithfield. Karen Ench, church secretary, is taking orders for Fraser fir Christmas trees, mixed-green wreaths and white-pine garlands. Delivery will be from 2:30 till 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the church, 218 S. 2nd St.

The trees are 3 to 11 feet in height and cost $9 a foot. The wreaths are 12 to 42 inches in diameter. Call 934-2675 for prices. The garland is $20 for 25 feet or $45 for 75 feet.

Advent service

A children's Advent service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church, 121 E. 2nd St., Clayton.
