Birthday party

A "Birthday Party for Christ" is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Johnston Medical Mall, 514 N. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield. The program will feature performances by Daunté Tyler, the IMI Puppet Ministry, Giner G. Vitus and D&J Mimes. Admission is $15 and includes dinner. Those attending are asked to bring donations of toys, personal-care items and clothing for women and children. The fifth annual Christmas tree, wreath and garland sale is under way at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Smithfield. Karen Ench, church secretary, is taking orders for Fraser fir Christmas trees, mixed-green wreaths and white-pine garlands. Delivery will be from 2:30 till 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the church, 218 S. 2nd St.

The trees are 3 to 11 feet in height and cost $9 a foot. The wreaths are 12 to 42 inches in diameter. Call 934-2675 for prices. The garland is $20 for 25 feet or $45 for 75 feet.
