Franklin Ogburn Woodley, 68, of Smithfield, NC passed away on Sunday January 3, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. He showed strength, courage, and a positive outlook during his illness.
He was born August 15, 1941 to the late George Dallas Woodley and Gladys Ogburn Woodley of Angier. Frank was a mechanical contractor and was an active member of the NCAPHCC, having served on the Board of Directors and as President in 1985. He also was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Wellons Woodley; children, Nancy Patterson Thomson of Asheville and Franklin Ogburn Woodley of Raleigh; step-sons, Wayne Beckley Vaughn, Jr. of Raleigh and William Wellons Vaughn of Wilmington; grandchildren. Sarah and Michael Thomson of Asheville and Helen Cade and Mary Milo Woodley of Raleigh; sisters, Dora Osborne and husband Bill of Angier, and Martha Brenner and husband David of Charlotte.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Duke Oncology, Johnston Medical Center and Smithfield Manor for their loving care.
A reception to celebrate his life will be held at the home on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 5 until 7 PM.
