The Greater Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce named Davidson Neville of Triangle Insurance Group as its Citizen of the Year for 2009.

Neville was selected for helping to found Neuse Charter School. The award ceremony was part of the chamber's annual meeting, held Monday night.

Other awards were also given Monday:

-Revs. Margie and Paul Olsen, founders of the Smithfield Rescue Mission, and Selma Mayor Charles Hester received Distinguished Citizen Awards.

-Dr. Willie Smith, owner of Willowrun Veterinary Hospital, received the Jimmy Creech Small Business Person of the Year Award.

-Vicki Shore, director of Johnston County Industries, was given the Athena Award, which honors women in business.
