The N.C. Federation of Music Clubs will hold its 2010 festival Feb. 19 at Johnston Community College. The festival is open to music students whose teachers are members of the Federation of Music Clubs. The Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield has launched a blog,
blog.avagardner.org/. The blog joins the museum's Web site (
avagardner.org), its Facebook fan page and Twitter account.
The blog will offer information about upcoming events and exhibits, and it will give a "behind the scenes" look at what happens day-to-day at the museum.
The next Country Music Showcase at Johnston Community College will feature the music of the 1950s and '60s.
Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 5 and 2 and 6 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium on the Smithfield campus, 245 College Road.
The show will feature Tina Seldin Cash, Sarah Disorbo, Kaitlyn Flythe, Scotty McCreery, Alvin Smith, Mary Surles and Mel Thompson. Advance tickets are $10 for the evening performances and $8 for the Saturday matinee. At the door, tickets are $12 for evening shows and $10 for the matinee.

"The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry," a Christian film, will open Feb. 19 at The Garner Town Square 10 Cinemas, 2600 Timber Drive, Garner. In the film, a 75-year-old man helps three 12-year-old boys deal with a bully.
