John Allen and Bluegrass Magic will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Orchard House Booksellers, 117 N. 3rd St., Smithfield. Orchard House offers "open mic" from 6:30 till 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call 938-1511.

'Pippin' in Clayton

Gospel music

A gospel music festival will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, in the W.J. Barefoot Auditorium, 303 E. Church St., Benson. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with New Revelation and Greg Tart. Starting at 7 p.m., the following will perform: Black Creek, the Glorymen, Kingsway, Matt Smith and Kerri Mozingo. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Country in Selma

The next Country Tonight Music Show is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at The Ice House Theatre, 112 N. Webb St., Selma. Erick Strickland and The Nashville Rash Band will perform. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $10. For reservations, call 252-237-6199.

Bluegrass at JCC

Bluegrass artists Dailey & Vincent will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. Jamie Dailey is a former member of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. Darrin Vincent played with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder.

Tickets are $22.50 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets are available online at jccperformingarts.com and in the auditorium box office, which is open from 1:30 till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Also, tickets are available by phone at 209-2099.

Comedy in Smithfield

The Neuse Little Theatre will present "You Can't Take It With You" this month. Shows are at 8 p.m. Feb. 12-13, 3 p.m. Feb. 14 and 8 p.m. Feb. 19-20 in The Hut on Front Street in Smithfield. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For reservations, call 934-1873 and leave a message.

Music Festival

The N.C. Federation of Music Clubs will hold its 2010 festival Feb. 19 at Johnston Community College. The festival is open to music students whose teachers are members of the Federation of Music Clubs. An honors recital will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in the recital hall in the Graphics Arts Building. For more information, call Betsy Bullard at 359-2582.

Tenors in Clayton

The Canadian tenors Destino will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. The trio performs what it calls "popera," pop music with an opera flair. Tickets are $22, plus a service fee. They're available online at theclaytoncenter.com. Also, they're available in the box office or by calling 919-553-1737. The box office is open from 10 a.m. till noon and from 1 till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Art on display

Paintings by Kathleen Nobles of Clayton and Ruth Ogle of Raleigh are on display through Feb. 28 at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
