www.smithfieldparksandrec.comYouth T-BallRegistration for T-Ball with the Smithfield Parks Dept. is open until March 26. Boys and girls ages 5-6 are eligible to play. (Players must be 5 years old by May 1.) The fee is $25 for Town of Smithfield residents and $40 for non-residents. Registration forms are available online or at the Parks Dept. office.
Fun and Fellowship SoftballTeam registration for Fun and Fellowship softball with the Smithfield Parks Dept. is open through March 12 (unless the 24-team league fills up before that date). To be officially registered, a team must turn in its completed team registration form and pay all league fees. Team spots cannot be held. The fee is $425 per team, which includes $160 in non-resident fees for up to eight non-residents of the Town of Smithfield. Any teams that have less than eight non-residents will receive a deduction of $20 per player. League play will begin in April. Teams will play two games a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays.
Softball RegistrationRegistration for softball for ages 7-16 has been extended through Friday, March 5. The child's age as of Jan. 1, 2010, is used to determine her playing age. The fee is $35 for Town of Smithfield residents or $55 for non-residents. Practice begins in April with games starting in late April. Registration forms are available at the Smithfield Parks Dept. office or online at

Aquatics and Fitness ProgramsThe Smithfield Parks and Recreation Dept. is offering a variety of aquatic classes and fitness programs. Registration is also now open for a Lifeguard training class during Spring break. Visit

Bridge ClubThe area club meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Smithfield Operations Center. Drop-ins are welcome. Winners from the Feb. 23 session were John Haverkamp and Judith Haverkamp (57.87 percent), Lee Johnson and Paul Johnson III (56.94), Kenneth Lensing and La Vee Bailey (56.02) and Barbara King and Patricia Stallings (55.09).
