The 145th anniversary of the Battle of Bentonville will take place March 20-21 at Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site on Harper House Road in the Bentonville community. Battle scenarios, at 3 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, are the only events that require tickets, which are $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 and older. At 2 p.m. Saturday, the Sons of Confederate Veterans will unveil a statue of Gen. Joseph E. Johnston. Admission is free.
The Arts-in-Healthcare Program will continue March 18 with artist Ginny Raynor Brown. A calligrapher and graphic designer, Brown will demonstrate her art from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. Thursday, March 18, in the lobby at Johnston Medical Center on N.C. 42 West in Clayton.
Artwork by Cleveland Elementary School is on display through March 25 at Johnston Medical Center on Hospital Road in Smithfield. Suzy Barile, who teaches English and journalism at Wake Technical Community College, has penned "Undaunted Heart: The True Story of a Southern Belle & a Yankee General." She will sign copies of her book at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site, 5466 Harper House Road in the Bentonville community.
A traveling photography exhibit is on display through March 20 at the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield, 305 E. Market St., Smithfield. The exhibit is titled "Celebrate North Carolina: Faces and Places." It has four photos from 2009 N.C. State Fair winners, eight from the State Archives and 18 from members of the N.C. Press Photographers Association.

A musical about country singer Patsy Cline is coming to The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Smithfield. The Raleigh Ensemble Players will present "Always ... Patsy Cline" at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 27, and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28. The musical features 27 of Cline's hits, including "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams" and "Walking After Midnight."
