Because of unusually high demand and temporary limitations in its distribution system, Johnston County has issued a water-shortage advisory. While the advisory is in effect, the county asks customers to limit water use, especially Class 3 nonessential uses.

Class 3 water uses include outdoor non-commercial watering and irrigation, private vehicle washing and fire-system testing. A complete list of Class 3 use is available online at johnstonnc.com.

For more information, call Johnston County Public Utilities at 989-5075. Click here to find out how Smithfield's water system is affected.
