Archer Lodge

The Archer Lodge community will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 3, on the Community Center grounds. Here's the schedule of events:

8 a.m. - road race, walk.

11 a.m. - community parade.

11:30 a.m. - park opens with inflatable rides, snow cones, homemade ice cream and concessions, including barbecued pork from annual cook-off.

12:15 p.m. - patriotic ceremony and announcement of cook-off winners.

1 p.m. - horseshoe tournament, bingo.

2:30 p.m. - cakewalk.

3:30 p.m. - splashdown with Archer Lodge Fire Department.

4:30 p.m. - train rides.

6:30 p.m. - Little Miss Archer Lodge pageant.

Benson

In Benson, the celebration begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 4, with the opening ceremonies in the Singing Grove on Main Street. Entertainment will follow, with Chris Raynor, Washboard Ray and Little Sydney, dancers from Rendance Academy and Alicia's School of Performing Arts, the Cross County Scuffers and Tim Haire. Also, the evening will offer games, face painting, a clown and food vendors.

The celebration will end with fireworks from McLamb-Tart Road off of U.S. 301 south of downtown.

Cleveland

The Cleveland community will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 3. Here's the schedule of events:

7-9:30 a.m. - breakfast at Oakland Presbyterian Church.

10 a.m. - parade.

10:45 a.m. - opening ceremonies with grand marshals Raylon and Mildred Burtch; games, pony rides, food and entertainment.

1 p.m. - community ball game.

7-9:15 p.m. - street dance with the Terry Batson beach-music band.

9:15 p.m. - fireworks.

Coats Museum

An Independence Day celebration is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the Coats Museum & Bell Tower, 3317 Old Fairground Road in the McGee's Crossroads community. Shelby Stephenson and friends will perform. The annual ringing of the bells will be at noon. The Coats Museum and House will be open for tours. Light refreshments will be served. Kenly

Kenly will celebrate Independence Day on Friday, July 2, in the field between Kenly 95 Truck Stop and the former Squibb plant. A deejay will spin patriotic tunes starting at 7 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dark. Bring a lawn chair and food, or buy food from one of the eateries along Truck Stop Road.

Pine Level

Pine Level will celebrate the Fourth on Monday, July 5, at Sam Godwin Park. The day begins at 8 a.m. with a kickball tournament. Amusements and concessions open at 3:30 p.m.. Live music follows at 4 p.m., featuring the Thick as Thieves band. Fireworks will go off at dark.

Selma

The town's July 4 celebration will get under way at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 4, with live entertainment, a variety of vendors and a children's area. Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m.

Smithfield

The town will celebrate Independence Day on Monday, July 5, on the Town Commons on Front Street. Here's the schedule:

5 p.m. - games open and music by Ragged Company.

6-9:30 p.m. - beach music with Coco Loco.

9:30 p.m. - fireworks.
