The 2011 Miss Ham & Yam Festival Pageant is seeking contestants from birth to age 26.

The Johnston Community College Arboretum is dedicating several rows of spring and fall vegetables to feed the hungry. Volunteers are needed to help grow the seedlings in the greenhouse, transplant and maintain the crops in the ground and harvest the food for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
