A luncheon to benefit the Johnston County Partnership for Children will be held Monday, Jan. 30, at the Clayton Steakhouse, 307 E. Main St., Clayton. Seating will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The menu choices are rib-eye steak sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich or chicken salad on a herb roll or bed of greens. The sandwich comes with roasted potatoes, french fries or side salad. All menu selections include tea or water and a slice of homemade cake.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the Partnership for Children of Johnston County offices in Selma and Clayton, at the Clayton Steakhouse or by calling 202-0002. Tickets will not be available the day of the event.

4-H club seeks members

The Clover Roots 4-H Club is looking for home-schooled children ages 5-10 who would like to join. The club meets at 2 p.m. Thursdays, once or twice a month, in the Rock Pillar Road area. Last year, meeting topics included culture, seashells, building a slip-and-slide out of recycled materials, incubating and hatching chicken eggs, tie-and-dye, a polygraph demonstration and fishing. Daddy-Daughter Dance

The 15th annual Daddy Daughter Dance, for dads and daughters ages 3-14, is scheduled from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center, 600 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield. Banquet to boost statue project

The Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold a Lee-Jackson Banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at King's Restaurant on U.S. 70 West in Kinston. Bernhard Thuersam will speak. He is chairman of the N.C. War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission. Jimmy Aycock will perform on piano. The cost is $15 per person and includes a meal. A silent auction will benefit the Gen. Registration open for MS walks

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has opened registration for this year's walks in Raleigh and Goldsboro.

The Triangle walk is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, at the RBC Center in Raleigh. The Goldsboro walk will take place Saturday, April 21, in Herman Park.

Walk MS, an annual fundraiser for more than 20 years, is an opportunity for the community to support the estimated 5,400 people living with multiple sclerosis in Eastern North Carolina. Sixty percent of all the money raised will go to programs, services and advocacy for Eastern N.C. residents. The rest will support national research to find the cause and cure of MS.

In addition to one- and three-mile walks, the events will feature live entertainment, food vendors and kids' activities.
