The Johnston Soil and Water Conservation District is taking orders for loblolly pines, Eastern red cedars and hardwoods. Available hardwoods include wax myrtle, Eastern redbud, black walnut, common persimmon and bald cypress. Orders will be taken until supplies run out. Pines will be sold in bundles of 25. Cedars and hardwoods will be sold in bundles of 10. Seedling prices are $10 per bundle. Walk MS, an annual fundraiser for more than 20 years, is an opportunity for the community to support the estimated 5,400 people living with multiple sclerosis in Eastern North Carolina. Sixty percent of the money raised will go to programs, services and advocacy for Eastern N.C. residents. The rest will support national research to find the cause and cure of MS.
In addition to one- and three-mile walks, the events will feature live entertainment, food vendors and kids' activities.
