Variety show Sunday A variety show to benefit the Johnston County Relay for Life is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at First Baptist Church, 202 S. 4th St., Smithfield.

Movie premiere “Blaire’s Bridge,” a movie shot in Johnston County, will have its world premiere March 6-7 at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. The Friday and Saturday evening showings, at 7:30 p.m., will feature meet-the-cast sessions. A family bargain matinee will show at 4 p.m. Saturday. Set in Clayton, “Blaire’s Bridge” is the story of the impact a covered bridge has on a community suffering from life’s challenges. The bridge was built a half-century ago by a man as a tribute to his dying wife. Tickets are on sale at the Clayton Center box office. For more information, visit claytonmoviepremiere.com.

Branchettes to sing The Branchettes will celebrate their 36th anniversary this weekend. One performance is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Western Assembly Headquarters on U.S. 701 south of Four Oaks. Country music in Selma The next Country Tonight Music Show is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Friday, March 6, at The Ice House Theatre, 112 N. Webb St., Selma. Blues in Clayton Blues Bash IV is scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. Guitar legend Johnny Winter and local bluesman John Dee Holeman will perform. Tickets are $22, plus service fees. Auditions in Garner Auditions for “The Hallelujah Girls” are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, March 11-12, at the Garner Historic Auditorium, 742 W. Garner Road, Garner. Roles are available for women ages 40-65 and men ages 40-60. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script. The Towne Players production will run April 18-25.

Irish Cabaret Dublin's Traditional Irish Cabaret will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, March 16, in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. The performance features Irish music, laughter, song and dance. Comedian Noel V. Ginnity and other Irish entertainers will perform. Featured performances include a troupe of professional Irish dancers, including the All-Ireland Champions. Musical director and pianist Pat Marnane leads the musical ensemble. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17.50 at the door. Box-office hours are from 1:30 till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Art on display Art by West View Elementary School is on display through March 25 at Johnston Medical Center on North Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield. Music in Smithfield Live music is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Orchard House Booksellers and Coffeeshop on North Third Street in downtown Smithfield. Refreshments will be available.

artists sought The Johnston County Arts Council will host a number of plein air paint-outs this year throughout the county.
