Gospel music

The gospel music group Black Creek will celebrate its fifth anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Benson Grove Baptist Church, 6966 N.C. 50 North, Benson. The following will also perform: Teresa Allen, Timmy and Linda Benson, Ricky Allen and Linwood Johnson, Julia Johnson and Lauren Futrell. Admission is free. Refreshments will follow the concert.

Music at Piney Grove

The Eastmen Quartet will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Piney Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church on U.S. 701 near Four Oaks.

Sounds of Hope

Sounds of Hope, a gospel music group, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Smithfield First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1000 Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield. The church will collect an offering for the group.

Revival at Jubilee

Jubilee Church will be in revival April 4-5. The Watchman Quartet will sing at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. Pastor D.A. Leonard will speak. The church is at 951 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield.

Chicken and pastry

Plates of chicken and pastry will be on sale from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 5312 Meadowbrook Road in the Meadow community. The cost is $6 per plate, with takeout available.

Youth services

The youth of Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church and Pine Level First United Methodist Church will present services on Sunday, March 29. Ricky Tyree, an interpretive chalk artist from Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, will speak at 9:30 a.m. at Sanders Chapel, which is on Brogden Road five miles east of Smithfield. He will speak at 11:30 a.m. at Pine Level First Methodist, which is at the corner of North Church Street and U.S. 70-A in Pine Level. The handbell choir from the Pine Level church will perform at both services.

Piney Grove Chapel

Singer-songwriter Mark Bishop will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church on Pine Grove Church Road west of McGee’s Crossroads. Edgerton Memorial

Starting April 1, Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church in Selma will offer “First Wednesday,” an opportunity to enjoy a meal and meet others in an informal setting. The monthly event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The cost is $5 per person or a maximum of $13 for a family. To attend, call the church office at 965-3671 by 11 a.m. on the Tuesday before “First Wednesday.”

King’s Messengers

The King’s Messengers will sing at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Branch Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church on N.C. 96 north of Selma.

Thanksgiving Baptist

Thanksgiving Baptist Church will celebrate Family Day on Sunday, April 5. Bible study will begin at 9:45 a.m. The worship service will follow at 11. Starting at 3 p.m., the church will offer softball games, food and a screening of the movie “Fireproof.” The church is located at 6701 N.C. 42 east of Clayton. Your Appointed Time

A program titled “Walking in the Season of Your Appointed Time” us scheduled from 3:30 till 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at St. Peter’s Church of Christ, 1011 E. Massey St., Smithfield. Karen Presley and Rico Diamond will speak. Presley is the author of “Living Holy in an Unholy World.” Diamond is the author of the upcoming book “God Always Wins at Mind Games.” The program is a project of Women on the Move for PEACE and Work the Word Ministries. White Rock AME Church in Micro will celebrate Family and Friends Day with services at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 29.

Yard sale in Clayton

Horne Memorial United Methodist Church will hold a yard sale from 7 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at 9933 U.S. 70 Business near Venero’s Pizzeria. The sale will offer household goods, office supplies and equipment, clothing for children and adults, toys, videos and DVDs.

Yard sale at Mt. Zion

A yard sale is scheduled from 7 a.m. till noon Saturday, April 4, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 15772 N.C. 50 in the Cleveland community. The sale will offer clothing for adults and children, baby supplies, furniture, books, movies, toys and household utensils. The church is a quarter-mile south of N.C. 42. Live Oaks Baptist Church will be in revival April 3-5. The Rev. Glen Brock will speak at 7 p.m. Friday. The Rejoice Trio will sing at 6 p.m. Saturday. A meal will follow. On Sunday, the Rev. Evangelist Hattie Lofton of Smithfield will speak at 7:30 p.m. March 25-27 at St. Matthew AME Zion Church, 1289 Sarecta Road, Pink Hill.

Plates of barbecued pork will be on sale from 11:30 a.m. till 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Smithfield Advent Christian Church at the corner of Galilee Road and N.C. 210 west of Smithfield. The cost is $6 per plate.

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Bethel AME Church on N.C. 96 north of Selma. The cost is $7 per plate.

Spaghetti at Whitley

Spaghetti plates will be on sale from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. and from 5 till 7 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Whitley Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield. The cost is $6 per plate, with takeout available.

Gospel sing April 1

The gospel music group Arise will perform at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 4, at Smithfield Advent Christian Church at the corner of N.C. 210 and Galilee Road near Smithfield.

Music at Lee’s Chapel

The Lumber River Quartet will sing at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Lee’s Union Advent Christian Church, 2747 Lee’s Union Church Road, Four Oaks. The church will be in revival at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29, and at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, March 30-April 1. The Rev. Mike Tart of Smithfield Advent Christian Church will speak.

Festival in Clayton

Hope Church will hold its first Spring Festival and Craft Fair from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Clayton Middle School, 490 Guy Road, Clayton. The festival will feature free carnival games and inflatable rides. Also, more than 40 vendors will sell food and crafts. During the festival, the church will collect nonperishable foods.
