Comedian Eric O'Shea will perform at 7:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 23) in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. He was Campus Activities Magazine's 2007 National Comedy Performer of the Year. Admission at the door is $7.50.
Civil War prints by artist John Paul Strain are on display through Oct. 15 at River City Arts, 109 S. 3rd St., Smithfield. River City Arts is open from 11 a..m. till 7 p.m. Saturdays.
The annual Faith Festival is scheduled from 5 till 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, on the Town Commons on Front Street in downtown Smithfield. Christian rock band Isaiah Six will headline this year's event. Also on the bill on Flowers for Faye, When Forever Come, The Sacred Code and PB&J. The Town Square Concert Series in Clayton will continue Tuesday, Sept. 29, with the Band of Oz, which will perform from 7 till 9 p.m. on the Town Square, 100 W. Main St. Admission is free. Soft drinks, beer and wine will be available. (The concert was rescheduled from Sept. 17.)
The next Country Tonight Music Show is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at The Ice House Theatre, 112 N. Webb St., Selma. Eric Strickland and the Nashville Rash will perform. Admission is $10. Doors open at 7 p.m. For reservations, call 252-237-6199.

In Clayton, the town's collection of art from this year's Poster Contest has moved to the second-floor landing of The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St. The collection now hangs on the second-floor government landing, just outside the elevator and right before the entrance to the hallway to Customer Services. This six pieces in the collection are Dan Lee's "Morning Bridge," Doug Strickland's "Woman's Club," Jo Johnson's "Lee's Corner," Kizlena Ray's "Sam Robertson and Tractor," Jo Johnson's "Town Shopper Center" and Kizlena Ray's "Clayton Water Tower."

Tickets are on sale for the Ava Gardner Festival Gala on Oct. 9. The gala will feature the unveiling of a new exhibit, "Ava and Hemingway." The centerpiece of the exhibit will be a pocket watch that the actress Ava Gardner gave to the writer Ernest Hemingway on his 55th birthday. Keep Johnston County Beautiful is seeking entertainers for its fifth annual Festival of Trees, which will be held Dec. 4-10 in Smithfield.
