Artwork by West Smithfield Elementary School students is on display through November at Johnston Medical Center on North Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield. The next Country Tonight Music Show is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at The Ice House Theatre, 112 N. Webb St., Selma. Eric Strickland and the Nashville Rash will perform. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $10. For reservations, call 252-237-6199.

The Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College will present "Satisfaction: A Rolling Stones Experience." The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the auditorium on the Smithfield campus, 245 College Road. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22.50 at the door. Tickets are available online at

Darkside Haunted Estates has opened at 11875 N.C. 222 West, Middlesex. Here's the remaining schedule: Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31. Hours are 7 till 10 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger. A "Low Scare Night" for kids is scheduled from 7 till 9 p.m. Oct. 29. Auditions for "Pippin," a Clayton Youth Theater production, are scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 13 and 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. Auditions are open to students in grades 7-12; however, the show will cast one boy age 5-10. Students should prepare a song; a pianist will be available, or bring a CD. Rehearsals will begin Nov. 30.
The Johnston County Heritage Center will stage its annual "Ghost Walk" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Riverside Cemetery at South Second and Church streets in downtown Smithfield. Costumed reenactors will tell stories about people buried in the cemetery. For more information, call 919-934-2836.
